Hello,

My husband and I are having some difficulty with the Education section of the DS 230. I've read elsewhere that in general, the rule is put "all your educational institutions", and in my husband's case, he's attended a lot of technical courses at technical schools in Brasil. So, question 1) Do we put down short courses as well?

The other complication is that he doesn't have records of all of the courses he's done. Moreover, the longest technical course that he did he lost the diploma, and the school burned down years ago and apparently they don't have any records of his degree that he got. In this situation, my husband doesn't remember the exact dates that he attended the school or the exact kind of "degree" he got. I'm wondering, in this case, do we try and guess and write down what he remembers best, or do we leave it out?

He actually went to the school to ask how they deal with past students whose records they've lost, and they said, "Well, if a previous student were to present their copy of their diploma to us, we would verify it and support it, but without that copy, we would not have any way to attest to the existence of the diploma for that person because all of our records have burned."

Well, we are just trying to figure out how to best fill out the form. His memory isn't great with dates and details, and without records he is taking a shot in the dark. What's the best we can do?

thanks in advance for the help and responses

Right, that would be the thing to do if he had gone to college--instead he went to technical schools and the main one says they have lost the record of his diploma because of the fire. The short courses (few months) we will leave off, but what about the main one where he went for 4 years and now they don't have any record of it? Do we put it on or leave it off?

Put the main one on. As far as I know, they will not be checking with the establishment that he actually attended. They certainly didn't check with the schools and universities my husband attended, but took his word for it.
