Applicants ages two (2) years to (14) fourteen years of age must undergo the medical examination at least four (4) work days prior to their scheduled appointment at the Consulate. Failure to do so may result in processing delays or rescheduling of initial appointment. It is also recommended that children within this age range should be immunized at least four (4) weeks prior to their medical examination.

Hours for receiving visa applicants are from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Medical Offices are located close to the Consulate. Doctors recommend that applicants 15 years old and over, not to eat for at least six hours prior to their examination. If you suffer from a chronic illness, have been treated for any venereal disease or are under psychiatric care, the Doctor recommends you to bring your medical file or have one forwarded to the Doctor prior to your medical examination.

Each applicant must present the following documentation at time of medical appointment:
A.- Visa Appointment Letter.
B.- Passport.

Cheap and good hotels near the Consulate? update 3/6/08..I suggest The Holiday Inn Lincoln. It is not cheap but the benefits are worth the price. It is within walking distance and if you don't want to walk taxis camp out in front of the hotel 24 hours a day. I never took a taxi walking was just fine. Some of the benefits are 24 hours security around the hotel, free parking if you rent a car which I suggest highly. A restaurant inside, free internet services, and a chill lobby to hang out and wait. Also the rooms are nice like any other Holiday Inn. La Playa from what I saw is dirty and poorly constructed. Also during the hours from 5am to 8pm there are hords of people just outside the hotel waiting for their relatives to exit the embassy. This can be very frustrating because the vendors and the beggars come out when there are that many people. Cheap is La Playa right in front of the consulate. IT was between 40 and 50 dollars a night. Wasnt the greatest but it was right in front so you didnt have to walk to the consulate and you could also watch the lines to know when you should go out. Also if you go there dont use the phone or fax, or any other services, it is very expensive.
3/12/08 Many are using Los Cedros. It is about $50 per night, offers 24 hour security, free wirless internet, free onsite computer with printer, enclosed parking, walking distance to the consulate, and free breakfast buffet.
Additional Info? If you need to submit a waiver for a prior overstay or illegal presence, call to setup a waiver appointment as soon as you receive the open appointment letter or appointment date for the visa. The waiver appointment must be scheduled at least 3 days after the visa appoinment. You do not have to wait until you attend the visa appointment to schedule the waiver. Waiver appoinments are currenlty (as of 3/12) available 2 months from the date you call to schedule the appoinmtment. Waiver must be presented with hardship letter from USC and evidence/documentation to prove extreme hardship, G-325A, and waiver fee. As of March 2007, waiver processing takes place immediately at your scheduled waiver appointment. If the waiver is clearly approvable, you will be scheduled a visa the same or next day. If it is not clearly approvable, you are sent to the backlog, and a decision is made in approximately 9-12+ months with a visa pick up appointment scheduled 7 weeks after waiver approval.

Consulate staff does not provide accurate information via email or phone. Do not rely on what they tell you.
