I apologise. My appt was 9.30 but like an old person waiting outside the hairdressers I got there at 7am where there were the obligatory 20 people before me. Seems whatever time you get there, there are 20 so I suspect they are plants. Outside, asked for passport, interview letter and ds260. The interview letter and passport are most important if you want to have them in some kind of order. You show these three times, the ds260 only once at the first checkpoint. Anyway, got in the embassy at 8.10 first cr1/ir1 there (# i901) and was called to pre processing around 8.20. Fingerprints, took courier information, checked documents, took two photos and was given one back. Asked when I was planning on flying out (dec 2nd) and why I'd added another name to my passport that wasn't on my birth certificate ( confirmation name, it's a catholic thing, and I started using it after my mother died because that was her name). Given back X-ray. I asked the guy if I needed to show this at POE and he said no so I don't know what the score is with that one, I've heard conflicting reports so I'll have it in hand luggage anyway, just to be safe. Got to back to the waiting room and had a mini panic because I couldn't find my passport. A downside of the obsessive checking I'd been doing the last few days. Got called for interview just after 9 so if you want to get seen and away early, it's worth an hour in the freezing cold rain. Swore the oath, took fingerprints again to confirm identity because the DoS computer system was playing up. Five questions: have you ever overstayed, when did you first meet, have you met her family, what does she do for a living ( at which point she said they could use her here right now to fix the computers) and when did you get married? Then the magic words 'I'm recommending that you are approved for this visa'. Ok, I cried, I admit it. I told her how we'd dreamed of this when it wasn't legally possible and thanked her for making our dreams come true. She laughed and said she was very happy she could make me happy. After a have a great day, I ran off to call the missus and to tell her I was coming home. A year minus ten days since we filed :) | 2017-03-21 | |||||||
