Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Finally, finally, finally had our interview yesterday morning in Montreal. My husband (petitioner) came with me which they seemed to like, but there were a number of people without their spouses.
We were there at 6:40 and first in line. The security guard came around just before 7:30 to remind people that they were not allowed ANY purses or bags, which sent a couple of people sprinting to nearby hotels and coffee shops to see if they could leave their stuff for a few hours. They opened the door at 7:30 for us to talk to the first woman about the Loomis/appointment letter.
After that things went pretty quickly. Upstairs we got number C-1 but were the 5th people called to a window to give paperwork. We were there for maybe 5 minutes. Then sat for another 10 and then called for the "interview" which lasted about 10 minutes. 6 of those were talking about stuff other than the visa, then we both took the oath, then we chatted some more and the officer said "by the way I just... read complete review

Just had my K-1 interview today and got approved! Hurray!

My interview was set for 10am at the US consulate. I made sure to check the directions beforehand. The location is within 5mins walking distance from Burrard station, really easy to get to. The entrance is on the side of the building. I followed the instructions to not bring a water bottle, food, cellphone, or a big bag. You can bring a small bag as long as it fits in the wooden box frame they have. It seems that they also have small cubbies where you can check your cellphone in exchange for an ID. Not sure if they allow digital watches so I didn't bring mine; analog watches are ok. If you have any sealed packages beside the medical exam results, they will get you to open them. I had a police certificate from Japan, which they had me open right there for them to check the contents. Was able to cut through the line when I told the person at the frontdesk that I was there for a K-1 interview. Yeh, VIP javascript:emo... read complete review

Arrived at Consulate at 7:00 AM. First in line. Doors opened promptly at 7:30 AM Everyone is ushered into the building one by one or as couples. First contact with an official just inside the outer doors who asked for our courier documentation and passports. Never asked to see the appointment letter at any stage of the process. Then to security which is like the airport save for the shoe removal. You are then directed down a flight of stairs to a waiting area by the elevator. At 8:00 AM the security guard opens the elevator and instructs everyone to go to the 19th floor and to go to window 14. This is where you can lose your place in line as the elevator doors open opposite from the entry doors. Window 14 is marked as the Cashier, don't be confused by this many people were, it is the window you want as this is where you are given your priority number. Just a note on the waiting area, you have a fabulous view of Montreal and Mt. Royal. We waited about 5 minutes and were called to the fi... read complete review

Got there at 7:30/7:45am for 8am appointment.

Maybe 5 people in line in front of us. Went with my petitioner.

Waited till about 10 got called to 1st window. Gave the letter of intent, photographs, i-134, police and birth certificates. Took about 15 minutes. Waited about another 5 minutes or so then got 2nd interview.

I was asked a few basic questions, then told I was approved.

Out by 10:30.

No idea about the order, we were C16 and they called people who came after us before we got there.

Overall was expecting it to be much worse. Approved!!!

It was a breeze.
In and out in 35 minutes.
We were first in line. Had all the paperwork ready.
The interviewer asked 3 questions
-how we met
-if we had kids
- if it was both our 1st marriage

And thats it. Approved!

Good luck to all
