Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

On June 27, 2013, my husband (who came down to Jamaica hours earlier) and i arrived at the embassy in Kingston, and was greeted by the usually crowded group of applicants.

I had a 9:00am interview. A team of security officers will direct you accordingl you enter as the embassy the usual. Please be sure to indicate that you are a immigrant visa applicant so you will be placed in the right group of applicants.

Upon entering, the building, my first stop was at the security post, where you will get a service number ticket, and a yellow strip of paper on which you will write your passport number and keep for you personal record.

I was then instructed to proceed to sit on the right once I enter the building. My first call was the the fingerprinting window, where preliminary questioning also takes place.

Questions asked included:

1. Have you ever stayed more tan six months in the US?
2. Have you ever be... read complete review

I arrived about 7am for an 8am appointment, i was greeted with a long line but i was at the front in no time, as there were two line one for non-immigrant visa and immigrant visa. The security personnel at the front of the embassy check to see if i had an appointment letter, my passport and two passport size photos, all was intact so i entered the embassy and when through security screening, i had to remove my belt and everything in my pockets place them in a container and walk through a metal detectors all was well so i then preceded to the court yard where i put myself back together and sat in the hot morning sun, i was so mad but nonetheless i endure it for about 15min until i was called to go inside, while inside a lady took my appointment letter and gave me two pieces of paper a white piece with a number (A***)and a yellow piece which i should write my passport number on it and keep it. she then told me go have a seat and listen for the number to be called. i sat for about 20 to 3... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our interview date was May 28th. We arrived at the embassy at about 7 am. There was a long line formed in front of the embassy. There were two embassy staff members performing intake of all those in line. Only those with an appointment were allowed through security. Since we were early, we had breakfast across the street. (typical Jamaican breakfast). After breakfast, we walked to the embassy. My fiance went in about an hour early from his scheduled time. Since the petitioner is not allowed in the interview, I had to wait in the front of the embassy. Fortunately, there are benches and roof for shade. Any Non-US Citizens are asked to wait across the street from the embassy. The K1 fee is paid at the time of the interview and can be paid in either US dollar or Jamaican. (keep in mind exchange rates fluctuate so be sure if paying in Jamaican you have the correct amount - current fee is $240US). After about 3 hours my fiance came out. At first I could not tell if he was approved or not unt... read complete review
