Review Topic: K1 Visa

We applied for a K1 visa for my fiancée and K2 for her 3 year old daughter.

The first appointment for ACS was Thursday at 8:00 am. Our hotel recommended we leave more than an hour in advance which turned out to be unnecessary and we got there way too early around 7:00 am. The ACS (Centro de Atención al Solicitante) was very easy to find, on the ground level of an outdoor office complex. Even though we were there early they let my fiancée in around 7:30 am. After waiting there it seemed like they let people in about an hour in advance of their appointment. I asked if I could go in with them as the petitioner but was told no.

The only documents necessary were passports, 2 passport photos and the confirmation page of the DS-160 form. No need to bring all of the other documents for the interview.

Right after 8:00 am my fiancée walked out because they rejected her daughter's passport photos because her bangs were covering her eyebrows. Conven... read complete review

It went smooth. Basic questions. Each step was quick and somewhat punctual. A lot of worry for almost no reason. They barely look at the overwhelming amount of evidence we submitted.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our process at the Bogota Embassy was pretty smooth, albeit slow! We stayed across the street at the Fairfield by Marriot Bogota Embajada, I would highly recommend it since it's an easy walk across the street, especially for early appointments like ours (not to mention, it happened to be an eco day in Bogota and no private cars were allowed to drive). Our appointment time was 7 AM and we arrived at around 6:30. There wasn't any 'line' to speak of, really just everyone grouped together across the street trying to hear instructions. At just after 6:40 an announcement on the loudspeaker gave instructions for those with immigrant visas to proceed to the left towards gate 3 and those with nonimmigrant visas to go right. The first line to get inside the Embassy is just to verify you're in the right place and get checked in, after you go through security and then line up again inside. An agent helps you place your docs in the right order and there are guides attached to the table to show whic... read complete review

Appointment is at 7:00AM but I got there with my fiance at 6:45AM and they were starting to let people in and we were pretty far back in the line already.

Took awhile to get to the security room and it was cold outside in line, seems like they were letting other visa types in first, and K-1 and CR-1 were last.

Once through security, you enter the waiting area and a staff member makes sure you have your documents. Only thing needed was I-134, medical exam, police certificate and passport photos. They told me no need for DS-160 confirmation, tax transcripts, birth certificate etc.

Then you enter a line for just K-1 where they took my fiances passport, and the documents mentioned above. After that you wait for your interview. They didn't start doing interviews until 8AM and just 1 officer. The other 2-3 officers opened their windows for interviews around 9:30AM

Window 2 officer had noticeably worse spanish but he was approving ... read complete review
