Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

NOTE: THERE IS A DOCUMENT REQUIRED ONLY BY BULGARIA. In addition to a marriage certificate, the Bulgarian spouse must obtain a certificate from their mayor's office stating their marital status. Bogus BS

Also, the medical clinic Vita used the wrong paper so we had to go back after our interview to get the proper form filled out. Plus they opened the sealed envelope to check something and then re-closed it (!) which I thought was defeating the point of the sealed envelope ... anyway if you use Vita, pay attention to what they give you.

The interview process itself was less painful than expected. Appointment time was 8 am, we were out by 11.

Be warned: the interview takes place through glass windows (in a room full of people applying for tourist and student visas, etc... read complete review

Filed for a tourist visa for my then-fiance in November 2007, in hopes that my family could actually meet him before we got married. CO was condescending and rude, what I overheard of the interview was: "I find it hard to believe that in six months, you didn't have a chance to meet her family." Well, I guess this guy has been out of the U.S. for too long and has forgotten how big it is - my mother lives 3,000 miles from me and my father 1,700 miles away. Yeah, we were "dating" for six months, but we only got engaged a week before he had to leave the country... we could have just gotten married while he was still in the U.S. but he has kids and I didn't want to keep them apart while we adjusted status ... anyway we tried to be completely honest about bringing him back into the U.S. for a visit - with immense documentation that he had no intention of staying on that visit - and were shot down.

My interview went very good.Everybody was nice and helpful.
The consular officer asked me only few questions.
The whole prosedure took me less than 1 hour.
