Hello- Starting my processes to have my fiance join me in the United States from the Dominican Republic. Question, when sending proof of relationship I saw messages we had should be sent ( facebook, Whatsapp, etc) however does this have to be translated? If so Facebook is certified for translation can I send the picture of a message that has the Spanish and then the translated version under it ( since face Book offers translated options)? And if I have to send messages how many is good enough?

I sent numerous pages of Whatsapp messages which were 90% in spanish. Didn't have any problems.

Some official documents were translated though, like her birth cert.

USCIS ---> accepts only English and/or translated into English.

NVC ----> accepts both Spanish and English.

Facebook's translator isn't that great, so i would use caution when it comes utilizing algorithmic translators for immigration purposes.
Yes, you can send in screenshots of aps. If you do decide to self translate make sure you follow the proper guidelines outlined by the USCIS.

Yes, if you want the USCIS to consider them as evidence for the initial filing of the petition.

If you think you have enough proof for the initial filing, you can forgo the translation.

And the messages will be considered at the NVC and Embassy(interview) stages.

Hi,

You really don't need the messages. I didn't send out any messages and did just fine. I sent pictures of us and proof of my travels to see my fiancee. It's also helpful if you can go with him to the interview at the embassy. I went and it was really not bad. Hardly got asked any questions.
