Can the I-693 Medical Examination Expire?

Hello everyone,

I got the I-693 filled out by a civil surgeon sometime in November last year (2014). Due to some unforeseen circumstances my wife and I have not been able to file for my adjustment of status until now. Should I make another appointment with the doctor and get another I-693 filled out or is it okay to include the one I got signed back in November?

You can use the one you have, but they expire after a year. There is a good chance you would have to have another performed, and would be RFE'd for it.

Why would I have to have another one performed if it doesn't expire for a year? And what is RFE?

You misunderstand. It's valid for a year from the day it was performed, so it expires in November of this year. Given that you haven't yet submitted your AoS, it's unlikely you will be approved prior to November (it's possible, but...).

An RFE is a Request for Further Evidence, and is sent by USCIS when they need something from you to adjudicate your case that you did not provide, or is no longer valid (like your I-693 medical).
