Hi there,

I am the Canadian Beneficiary for a K-1 Fiance Visa.

I am beginning to review what is needed for the "Packet 3" as the documents are at the NVC now and I presume will be forwarded to the Vancouver Consulate soon.

I noticed the requirement is for a long form Birth Certificate showing both parents' names. Only my mother's name is listed on my long form BC. I asked my mother about this and she gave some complicated explanation about changing our names after leaving her first husband, blah blah blah, the end result is my dad is not on my BC, even though we fully know who he is and I see him regularly. My parents were never married, this probably has something to do with it.

So my question is, will mother's name alone be OK for the interview, or do I have to somehow get my BC amended to include my father's name? I don't even know if that is possible. I'm confused. What do I do?
