Copies.
Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application or petition, a legible
photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required may remain a part of the record, and will

not be automatically returned to you

Yep, that is correct, no mention of certification requirement. There is no need to over-complicate this process, the process can confuse many folks.

ok so my other question is that it says that US Passport can replace any other documents. therefore, should we just sent the passport copy ? I was thinking to do citizenship document and us passport to be safe (My fiance was adopted) but then it says on the citizenship document not to copy, therefore my question about certified document

please help

I sent in a copy, of all pages, of my valid unexpired US passport (also as mentioned on page 4, 5d, of the I129F instructions. Scan it, save as a pdf file, it can come in handy later on in the process.
