I am doing an I-130. Trying to get my father to the US from The Philippines. I am concerned with a difference in the spelling of our last names.

My father has always spelled his name Herodias. After his marriage all the children where spelled Gerodias. Both last names are pronounced the same. Is it worth getting my fathers name changed on the Marriage certificate in the philippines from Herodias to Gerodias? Gerodias is my last name. He has no birth certificate.

I have seen this 'issue" with lots of people. He doesn't need to change nor do you. However he must have birth certificate showing the last name he uses officially. I think there is line on I-130 where you can include other names. This is where you want to put his first name and Gerodias as his last name.

I had the same situation with my dad's name.
