Delayed Registration NSO BC

Hello guys,

I've requested a BC Cert from NSO before and it turned out a Negative Certification of Birth.

Would the Negative Certification from NSO be sufficient enough for USEM?

Or do I need to go through the delayed registration process?

Would there be a problem if I didn't?

Thank you so much in advance for the insight :)

Birth Certificate from NSO is a requirement for your Visa interview. But before you think of the K1 Visa Interview requirement... I'm curious.. Do you have a passport right now? I know BC is a requirement for passport.

I could not comment if US Embassy would accept negative certification from NSO.

If you just filed your K1.. you still have time for late registration.

You could PM me.

If you dont have your BC in NSO, you could verify from Archive (near National Library). If you have a file in archive... possibly you could forward this to NSO instead of doing late registration.

Hello Rheanick,

I had a passport (about to file for loss/stolen since it was stolen recently :()

I haven't filed for K1 yet either.

I was able to live in the US before through an SB1 and that time the embassy did accept the negative certificate of birth. I'm just not sure how much the process has changed now it was quite some time ago :(

I once read here on the forums before of a fellow VJ-er filling for late registration and that made me wonder if they are requiring that now. Unfortunately I cant locate that thread anymore. I think it was an interview experience thread and she briefly mentioned the NSO BC late registration and she was asked by the CO about it.

Thank you for the advice :)

I will try and check with Archives, maybe I'll get lucky.

Last question;

Any idea on how I'm to go about returning my green card to the USEM? Do i just walk in there and hand it to them?

Thank you so much for replying :)

^^I think better file for late registration.... While on the process of filing the I129f, it will take 3-6 months... I corrected typo error on my BC and it took 6 months (oh well, I didn't follow up that before but if you do all the time, it would just take 3 months)...

Did you go to your local civil registrar of the place where you were born? If not, you can go there and ask them to dig your record of birth. They should be the one who will forward your birth record to NSO and have it certified. BC is one of the primary papers USEM required.

Oh in terms of a record of birth, I can get a hold of a Certified True Copy of my BC from my local civil registrar. The original copy of my BC got misplaced way back in highschool.

On the paper given to me by NSO when I applied for certification for my re-entry, it states that further verification may be made from my local civil registry office.

With the process now would that be enough? The Negative Certification of Birth from NSO plus the Certified True Copy of my BC from my local civil registrar?

To be on the safe side I guess applying for the late registration would be the way to go.

Thank you so much for your input guys.

@Tedjen

Wow! 6 months? :o They do take their time don't they?

@Riza

It looks like that is what I'm going to have to do. By the way congratulation. Such a lovely wedding :)

^^Yes 6 months from the date I submitted the documents with attached requirements... I guess it will depend on where you will file it, since I was born in Makati, I filed the petition for RA9048 in LCR Makati. Many petitions are also in their office so it added why took so long...

Hi Tidbit,

Please request your local registrar to forward a copy of your BC to NSO.

I'm working on my mom's late registration also...Actually, its my sister who did the leg-work.

We finally got her BC from the local registrar. This morning, the local registrar just mailed my mom's BC to NSO. I would follow-up next week with NSO.

Delayed registration could only be availed of if there was no record whatsoever of the registration of birth. If you have a certification of birth registration from your local civil registrar, just request for it to be registered with the NSO. Then later on, request for an NSO authenticated copy of your birth registration.

Good luck!
