    I changed my last name on my passport. So it has my new last name. I showed them my marriage certificate but they still want me to get something in writing that my last name changed. I have no idea what to do and I need to get my sons birth certificate to apply for his US passport.

    Hello, I’m a U.S. citizen, but my husband is not. I changed my last name when I got married. I’m living with my husband in Germany(we are not German citizens). I just had my baby in Germany. I went to the Standesamt office to register the birth. They asked me to get a certificate from the U.S. embassy stating I changed my last name (since it’s different from my birth certificate). Will the US embassy issue a certificate? Or should I hire lawyer to help me?
