Hi guys,

Brief question for anyone that might know - we've recently received a checklist letter regarding our case at the NVC, requesting some documents that were missing. Fortunately for us, we had everything ready and we sent papers back on the same day...

Now, that's all good - but after calling the NVC, they informed me that the same amount of time was required for them to analyze our updated documents (!!!!), so another 6 weeks at best, more at worst. I'm patient, I get that it's important to check everything... But what I'm wondering is - does the Checklist Cover Letter means that these were the only documents missing? Or could they come back to us and ask for more stuff? :-(

Thanks!!

The checklist that was provided to you are the documents that the NVC requires you to give them. Since you're applying through IR-1, then there are such items as adoption certificate that is not applicable to your case. If you missed any items on the checklist that they wish to take a look at, then they will send you a RFE - Request For Evident.

And yes, the NVC takes up to 6 weeks to review the documents.

Right, that's what they sent - the Request for Evidence. Which we sent the answers to; the question was more about whether that meant the rest was OK, or if they could suddenly come up with new documents requested. :)

Very unlikely. They do a thorough check before sending a checklist for missing items and compile a full list of everything missing (if more than one item). It's very unlikely that you will get another checklist in the way of "sorry, just noticed you forgot this as well".

Never believe their six-week claims. It might even take longer. It could be quicker.
