Affidavit of Support

Hi everyone, me and my spouse are correctly in South Korea, we're at the interview stage now, we have arranged all necessary documents, now we're a little bit confused about the affidavit of support,we are trying to avoid being asked for a co sponsor since that would be tough to get. I'm currently working here in South Korea and I've filled in my tax return for last year 2015 becuz on the e3 package I read the instructions which said I must come with the recent tax returns form. I don't know if the most recent tax return forms and the fact that I'm currently working here will be enough and I won't need a co sponsor. Please I need help,let me know because our interview is schedule in some few weeks.

PS I have filled in my recent tax returns that's 2015 and I'm currently working, I wish to know if that's fine. Thanks.

Unless your source of income in South Korea will continue after you return to the US, it will not count. You will either need a joint sponsor (joint sponsor is the proper term when referring to an I-864, not co-sponsor) or have sufficient assets to meet the guidelines for your applicable household size.

Thanks for ur responds, I'm an ESL teacher here in Korea.I've been here since 2014,I don't know if that matters. Also how much is the fee u pay when the visa is approved? Thanks

When u talk of sufficient assets do u mean like enough money in the bank to proof that or what?

If the same firm or institution that currently employs you as an ESL teacher in South Korea will continue to employ you as an ESL teacher in the US once you return, the income is countable. If not, then your income is not countable because it will not continue from the same source after you leave South Korea.

There may be courier fees to have the passport returned with the visa after the interview, a South Korea specific answer in this regard is needed.

Also, after the visa is issued, the green card production fee of $165 will need to be paid to USCIS via the ELIS portal.
