Just a heads up after having dealt with this in regards to my father-in-law. In the state of Kentucky you cannot receive the subsidy for healthcare for any immigrant who has been an LPR for less than five years. You can receive the credit when you file your taxes.

My spouse and I have health insurance where we pay $127 per month for ourselves and the ACA pays the remainder of the premium. So each month we pay just that amount. We cannot add the father-in-law to the program to have his premiums subsidized monthly like ours are. We have to pay full price for insurance and then take the credit when we file taxes.

Now to check insurance prices for him (wish me luck).

Not having much luck. All the private insurers will only offer Medicare supplement plans to someone 65+. Anyone have any ideas of an insurance company that will provide medical insurance to an over 65 person who does not qualify for Medicare?
