Self Sponsorship - Evidence without cash assets

Hello,

We are thinking about self-sponsoring in London, the petitioner isn't currently working, however the beneficiary is a keyman in a role, their current employer will allow them to work in America - working remotely, on present salary. The beneficiary earns annually after UK taxes about $9k over the minimum poverty guidelines for 2.

The kicker is the beneficiary has no savings, nor property portfolio - rented always, no stocks, etc, etc. However the beneficiary has no debt too. Aged 26.

Will the embassy be looking for savings mainly, or will a guaranteed monthly income suffice, and a letter from their current employer?

Thanks

Prove your income will continue in the US and how much it will be. Most people do not have a job that will continue, hence the emphasis on assets.

Can you legally work in the US before you have EAD which takes 2-3 months, even if you are working remotely? I am not sure but it's worth looking in to before you go down that route.

Good question, to be honest I have no idea, we have looked at the document i765

and the options are:

  • Permission to accept employment
  • Replacement
  • Renewal

The latter two don't apply, and the first... well the beneficiary isn't "accepting" employment it's just not been terminated...

The petitioner has called the USCIS they couldn't give a yes or no answer and said goto document i765.
