It is my understanding that about 10 days before interview, the beneficiary has to submit documents at local VFS office. Please advice:

1. Which documents needs to be submitted? I have submitted the entire originals to NVC with DS 230 Form.

2. Am I right that the docs has to be submitted before about 10 days of interview?

Thanks.

It was my understanding that this information would be on the interview letter itself.

Anyhow, according to the New Delhi Embassy site you can submit between 7 and 15 days before the interview.

ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PRESENTED AT YOUR NEAREST VFS OFFICE (SEE ATTACHED SHEET) NO EARLIER THAN FIFTEEN (15) WORKING DAYS AND NO LESS THAN SEVEN (7) DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR INTERVIEW.

http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/packet4chlst.html

You could also email or possibly call the VFS office in Jalandhar to see if they confirm the same information.

My understanding is that it will only be the medical form if NVC has everything else already. Occasionally they want you to fill out a brand new DS-230. If your originals are with NVC what do you have that you can give them anyway?

Where am I at in the process? :

-Oath Ceremony scheduled for Feb 7, 2014 (scheduled late by request)

-Successful Citizenship interview, Dec 11, 2013

-fingerprint appointment, Oct 24, 2013

-applied for Citizenship, Sep 2013

-received 10 year green card, June 12, 2013
-conditions removed, April 11, 2013 (YAY!)
-biometrics appointment Oct 16, 2012
-I-750 NOA1 received Sep 23, 2012
-USCIS received I-750 removal of conditions in Sep 19, 2012
-received Social Security Card, late December 2010
-received 2 year green card, late December 2010
-port of entry, December 6, 2010
-interview November 30, 2010, granted
-VFS payment week of Nov 15, 2010
-Medical Exam done Nov 3, 2010
-Interview Date Assigned: November 30, 2010
-Case complete Sep 10, 2010.
-DS230 and I-864 received Aug 16, 2010 at NVC.
-Case at NVC: July 29, 2010
-I-130 approved July 23, 2010 at USCIS
-I-130 NOA1 March 18, 2010

This is correct and this is what New Delhi US Embassy website reads.

If you wish, you may submit your documents at the Embassy on the day of interview but

YOU MUST pay the courier charges at a VFS office prior to your scheduled interview date. However, we strongly encourage you to submit your documents at a VFS office at least seven (7) days prior to your scheduled interview. If you have already submitted all the documents at the National Visa Center (NVC), you can pay the courier fee just one day prior to the date of your scheduled visa interview.

And here is the link https://india2.cms.getusinfo.com/packet4chlst.html

Good Luck

VFS office: Jalandhar, Punjab. Embassy: New Delhi.

Thanks

I have number of posts for the reply. Please read my this post from my personal experience......

If you are going to be interviewed in Delhi and submitting papers in Jalandhar... Here is the list......

- Original Passport - Returned to beneficiary after putting sticker

- Photocopy of biographic pages of Passport

- 3 Photographs

- Letter of Appointment (print out of pdf that we received from NVC)

- Cash Rs 387.00/- Given us the receipt

- Copy of Local Police Clearance Certificate

- Copy of Passport Clearance Certificate

- Copy of Marriage Certificate

- Copy of Birth Certificate (Original in Punjabi and English Translation)

AND ALL the supporting documents (pictures, cards, all of it if possible)

VFS will tell you that you need to take it to interview BUT PLEASE submit it.

We took it to the interview, instead of getting visa, we were told to submit all of the supporting documents through VFS with the beneficary passport.

At that time, CO can ask for any other documents that is not in the list from NVC. like VoterList, VoterID card, letter from parents, guest list of the wedding, write-up why you both decided to get married.

:star: :star: :star: :star: :star: ...PLEASE DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCE... :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Any questions... please feel free to email me...

Deep I read your reply and have a question.

How did your interview experience go ? You mention you took all supporting documents with you to the interview, but you were told to submit them to the VFS instead ...

Did the CO refuse to look at your supporting documents at the time of the interview ? What exactly did they look at, examine or ask during the interview ?

It was my understanding that you would have to carry all the evidence with you to the interview itself and the CO officer reviews it on the day of your interview.

With us, we have different experience at the interview. I wish I should have submitted all the papers to VFS and should not have to go through this waiting period... it is killing both of us.

For us, CO looked at wedding pictures/honeymoon pictures, that's it, number of questions (normal ones).

Interview experience was ok, we are no thrilled with interview experience due to not getting visa at the interivew.

Then, given a letter to submit all the papers to VFS with passport. She was carrying all of it with her, they did not look at any of it and were told to go to different window for clarifications (Indian lady).

My wife told that Indian lady that she has all of documents with her but was told to submit it through VFS...

Good luck to all of you... my best wishes...

You can go to any of it.... Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Delhi.

Passport, Interview letter and any other old immunization records beneficiary has.

Guys / Girls, the medical exams is not a big deal, it is money and time.

You will be spending lot of time there waiting. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Wow, this is a first. A write-up of why you both decided to get married? a guest list of the wedding? a letter from parents? How very unusual!

Has anybody heard of this before? Was there any reason why they wanted all of this? I can understand photos, wedding card and evidence of relationship. But a write-up on why you got married sounds like someone wanting to "cover their butt" for saying OK to the visa for some odd reason. I would love to know more about this case.

So far Deep2009, you say you weren't granted the visa at the interview because you didn't submit the documents prior to the appointment, right?

I am sure I am not the only curious one, so please elaborate.

KP.

KP... It is not normal for Delhi Embassy to ask these documents... they are good in asking you to submit all the documents to VFS... We were told to submit all the documents with passport to VFS.

My case is not the only one... "someone wanting to "cover their butt" for saying OK to the visa for some odd reason"..... I like your comments, I totally agree with you on this...But don't know why?

There was nothing wrong with our case... immigration process itself is very intense and stressfull.

We were not given visa but asked to submit docs to VFS with the passport. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:
