Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : My entry at Chicago was totally straightforward, quick and easy. I handed over my passport and the sealed white envelope with my documents. Fingerprints from one hand were taken, then a photo. The woman then asked me a couple of simple questions about my fiancée, things like how long have we known eachother. I told her that she'd moved house after my visa interview, so she went and got a form and asked me to write the new address on it. She said it was just to ensure everything gets sent to the new address. Then that was it. I got through customs right away and re-checked my bag. Then getting through airport security was pretty quick, even though there was quite a long queue. I couldn't have hoped for better.

Embassy Review : My interview was on monday July 11th at 9am. I have a friend who doesn't live far from London so I stayed at his house for the weekend.

I got into London at about 7am and had a mooch around for a while. By 8:30 I'd stored my phone and mp3 player at Gould's pharmacy and was in the embassy queue. I got into the embassy at about 9am. Looking back, it might have been better to get in the queue earlier than I did.

Once I was inside. I sat down and looked at the screens. Every few seconds people wanting non-immigrant visas were being called up, and about every 5-10 minutes they called up someone wanting an immigrant visa. I knew I was going to be there for a while.

After about 2 hours they called me up. The woman at the window took my fingerprints and asked me for my documents. She took my passport, I-134, birth certificate, police record, MRV fee receipt and 2 photos. I asked her if she said 2 or 3 and she confirmed she just wanted 2 of them. The embassy website clearly asks you to bring 3 photos, so I guess they need to update that. After that she gave me a pink form and told me to fill out my details on it. The form is for the courier service who will deliver your visa. Since I didn't bring a pen, I borrowed one from the courier's desk at the back of the embassy.

A few minutes later I was called up again. There I was asked a few questions about how I met my fiancée and what she does etc. Nothing too bad. Then they said my visa was approved and to go and pay the courier at their desk. I paid the £14.80 fee with my debit card and that was that. Got out just before noon. I went for a wander around London for a bit, then went to Kings Cross for my 2:30pm train... which had been cancelled due to an incident in Doncaster! Luckily there was a train at 3pm so I didn't have to wait too long.

Overall it wasn't too bad an experience.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
