Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 19, 2012
Embassy Review : I left Ras Al Khaimah headed to Abu Dhabi last January 09, 2012 and i checked in to the nearest hotel for my interview. I woke up the next day at 3:00 AM (January 10, 2012) for my big day (Interview) so I can prepare myself and talk to my hubby for a little while.

At exactly 7:00 AM my sister and I left the hotel and headed to the embassy and we waited outside the building where there’s a bench to sit on. At 7:20 AM a security guard checked our appointment letter because at the time there where over 20 people waiting for their interview; mostly where Arab. I was the only Filipina there.

At exactly at 7:45 AM another security guard checked my appointment letter and passport then directed me to fall in the NON-IMMIGRANT line. At 8:00 AM the security guard directed me to the entrance of the main building (take note its not the USEM building yet it’s a separate room for security purposes only) so they have baggage scanner and some security personnel where they will scan your body using their gadgets and then after everything was neatly check they will instruct you to exit another door and head to the main building which is 5 to 8 meters away from the security room.

As soon as I entered the main building the reception security will gave me a control number which I’ve got the number (008). And instruct us to sit down and wait till my number flash on the monitor on top of each window.

My number flash on Window No. 10 and an Arabic lady took 1 copy of my control number (008) and asked for my Filled forms along with my other docs;

Filled Forms;
DS-156 + Copy
DS-156 K + Copy
DS-157
DS-230 Part I & II
I-134 + Copy
Employment letter
Bank statement showing a list of all deposits for the year of 2011
Bank statement showing current balance for checking and savings accounts
Renewed intent to marry letter signed and dated by petitioner
Renewed intent to marry letter signed and dated by beneficiary
(Yes my Hubby ITR was NOT taken from me)

Appointment Letter
Original Passport + Copy
Receipt for 540.00 AED (NBAD)
3 photos (2x2)
Original Police Clearance
Original NBI
Photo copy of my Birth Certificate
Medical Result (except the X-Ray)

I ask the Arabic lady if she need my hubby (ITR from 2008 up to 2010 / Chat & Call Logs / X-ray / photo copies of all the docs / Plane tickets / 200 Photos which I brought and put in a nice photo album. But she said No need.

After that the Arabic lady gave me a slip along with my passport to pay an amount of (781.00 AED) to (Window No. 1 - Cashier) and request me to come back after paying and return to her the passport along with the payment receipt.

And instructed me to go to (Window No. 11) for Finger printing (4 left finger / 4 right finger / 2 thumbs together) and then after that the he instructed me to wait for my number to flash at the monitor.

And my number flash on (Window No. 7) a covered lady conducted my interview I’m not sure if she’s an Emirate or an American and she instructed me to take the phone and raise my right hand and pledge under oath that everything I submitted is true and correct and the ff. question has been asked.

1) What’s my Full name?
2) What’s your date of birth?
3) Who is (name of my hubby)?
4) How long have we been engaged?
5) How / When / where did we meet? And how it led us being engaged? Tell me something about it?
6) Did you met in person? How long?
7) Does your family know about him?
8) Does his family know about you?
9) What does he do for a living?
10) What do I do for a living?
11) When are you planning to get married? Is it church or judge wedding?

And then finally I saw the C.O. pulled a Pink Slip on the side of her table and saw her writing the (Date / Day / Time) where I should come back to collect my passport and visa and she said once everything is ok they will issue my visa on the date given on the pink slip.

Were still praying that everything will be OK on January, 18, 2012 (Wednesday) and finally they will issued my Visa, thanks’ everyone for the great help and support…

Today Jan. 18, 2012 (1:30 pm)I collected my passport with K1 Visa stamp it took me more than 30 mins , due to Lunch Break of USEM staff. All in All it's fine.....Thank's GOD.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
