Embassy Review : |
Appointment was at 9am. After dropping off luggage at St Pancras and electronics at Gould's pharmacy, joined the queue outside the embassy at around 8.30. It took about 30 minutes to get through security so I got my ticket number at around 9am.
At around 10am I was called to window 1. My finger prints were taken, and I was asked for my DS157 since I had not included it in the items I sent to the embassy. I signed two copies of one of the DS156 I'd originally sent in. Then I was asked for my passport, birth certificate and copy, police certificate and copy and the affidavit of support. I was handed my X-ray in an envelope and told to put it in my suitcase when traveling. I was sent to window 12 to pay, returned to window 1 to hand in my receipt and sat back down to wait.
It took around 40 minutes before I was called to window 16. I was given back my original documents. I was asked to swear that I was telling the truth before signing the DS156K and printing my fiance's name. I was asked when my fiance and I had got engaged, how long we'd known each other and where I would be living. The consular officer said he'd been checking over my file and (big pause) everything seemed in order so he was going to approve my visa. javascript:emoticon(' ')
The officer explained that i would get my passport on and a brown envelope delivered to me and that I should not open the envelope but hand it over at POE.
I paid the courier and was out within 2 hours.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
