The interview was a breeze (i went inside with Helena as I\'m a US citizen) as they only asked her 3 questions. We returned 330pm to get her VISA and had a bottle of JC LaRouge to celebrate!
Now I just hope she gets a EAD stamp with a JFK entry. |

Interview at Fairfax, VA (Wash DC area) went fairly smoothly. Arriving at 1020am for our 1045am appointment, was greeted by a lady INS officier at around 1035am. The interview went fairly smoothly as she was very stern and seem to follow a mental script such that she simply asked us to state our legal name, address, how we met. She even asked, "Why did you married him?" I just thought that's such a rehtorical and loaded question.
We also had our friends send us a letter since they know my wife and I before and after we got married. So we presented those letters to the INS officier UN-OPENED!
Overall, it was a fairly efficient and quick process. A temporary 2-yrs Green Card was received (stamp on passport - expires 1 yr minus 1 day after issued date) at the end of the interview.
Throughout the process I presented myself casually and easy going, such that I even asked, "So you guys must be pretty busy"; and she replied that they see 10-12 cases daily!
Now the parking lot attendant (back of the office) was another story. Run by two (Thai guys) they hackled us to pay again as we had to turn back around and re-park since we noticed that the stamp on the passport was for one year (we thought it was two). So one of the two guys said, "Well that's a problem isn't it? Because once you go out you have to pay again and park" So I simply said, "There's at least 200 cars in the lot now, who paid $5 to get in. My extra $5 is nothing to the $1000 you all had pocked this morning!" At the end, I made a deal that if I don't come out in 30min I'll give you $5. So when I returned and pull my car out, i told them 7min and 27 sec, how much do I owe you? (Just want to share that and be fore-warned) |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
