Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 4, 2009
Embassy Review : My interview was for 8.00am on 31st July 2009. Fortunately this had coincided with my husband being in the UK for summer shut down so it was great that he could come along. Arrived in good time to get a coffee at Starbucks and then put the electronics into Goulds Pharmacy at 7.30am. Joined the visa queue straight afterwards and had passed through security and we were seated and waiting for our appointment by 7.55am. Our ticket was called at around 08.10am and we were dealt with by a serious lady who went through my paperwork with a fine tooth comb. She picked up on something that hadn't been asked for by USCIS or NVC and that was that I had changed my name by deed poll after my divorce. Neither USCIS or NVC had asked for my change of name deed, but this lady did!!!! Fortunately I had brought the document with me, but had I not done so, it could have affected the outcome - pphheewww!!! Once she had copied this document and answered a few basic questions, we were issued with a pink slip to complete and to await the next stage. We were then called again after about 45 minutes to a cheerful guy who asked - 1.How did we meet? 2. How long was it before we met in person? 2. What sort of work would I hope to do in the USA? And that was it. He then informed us that the visa was approved and to book and pay for the courrier to deliver my passport back to me. The passport arrived today (4th August), didn't even have to wait the 3-5 business days they quoted. Needless to say that it's a huge relief to have this all done and to have done it without the cost of lawyers etc., and that is down 100% to the people that share their information and experiences on this website. Thank you everyone who participates on VJ, we couldn't have done it without you.

POE Review: Washington DC
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-09-19
Embassy Review : Wonderful my flight arrived 30 minutes early! However that joy turned to disappointment as it took me three and a half hours to get through the whole POE process at Dulles. Waited an hour to get through the first immigration checkpoint, everything went well, got the necessary stamps etc., but then after collecting my luggage I had to go through a secondary admissability check with only one officer dealing with over 25 cases at the time I joined the queue. They eventually put more officers on duty to help out, but my wait was two and a half hours. Eventually I was fingerprinted again and issued through. No "welcome to America" or anything like that. It was a long tiring process and by the time I was done, the queue of people waiting in that section had gown to over 50. A disappointing first impression .
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
