Consulate Review: Dominican Republic

Event Description

Embassy Review : So we got there at 0530 and where let in around 0630. Our appointment was t until 8 but we heard horror stories of being there all day. So pretty .uch you go thru security. Once you go thru the metals tetors your asked to have a seat in rows. This determines the number your given. So really havi h an appointment time is irrelevant here. Once you get a nu ber your asked to wait in line to be seen at the first window. There they will collect your medical, Acta and Police Record. Then they asked me (the petitioner) the validate my mailing addresses. They then asked my fiance a few question. What was my name, how long have we known each other and the little girl that was with us was she our daughter and how old. He then said ok have a seat by 19 or 20 which was the booths. We sat there till our number was called about 20 mins I say. Once we approached the wi de she asked my fiance (beneficiary) was I present..I was trying to gather the baby so he approached the window before me . She greeted and asked did I speak Spanish I told her yes but English is my primary. She then proceeded to ask him the follow questions: his full name? My full name? How long have we known each other? Where do I work? What do I do there? Does he work and where? When do we plan to marry and where? Who will all be present? She asked our daughters name and age? Then she asked him did I have any issues with the police in the past? Now he explained to her that I had a issue last year with my children's father In regards to custody. But she must had been confused because she kept telling him I was arrested. I had to say excuse me I was not arrested last year. She then asked me what happened and I explained that I had to go for custody, visitation and child support. She said what charges I said no charges and then she said well what happened back in 2004. I explained to her I was arrested and no charges as it was a case that was thrown out due to the alleged victim lied.she said ok. Then she told him to be careful because I was once dangerous ..and then said approved. I was a little pissed about her comment but kept it moving because it was approved. Other than that littlenincident I had a great experience there. We where out by 845.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
