Comments : Interview: The officer could not have been nicer and was making jokes the entire time. We did have to wait about 20 minutes after our appointment time which he apologized for twice.

Once we got seated he said that the file looked perfect (his words) and that he didn't have any questions for me (the petitioner). He asked some random questions to get us talking and more comfortable chatting with him (normal small talk). Then he said he was going to talk to my wife while I looked for anything in my giant binder I thought he should have for the file. (He said he didn't need anything but that if I wanted to add I could) He went through the full application with my wife asking her birthday, places she has worked, parents names and professions and just kept checking off as he went along. Also went through about half of the Yes/No questions such as if she wanted to spy on America or be a terrorist. Then I explained all the papers I wanted to add to file such as more pictures, financial stuff and so on. He made a comment again how I didn't need to give him anything else but thanked me for them. He then explained that he had to go through the case one more time and said it would be his 4th time reading through it. He then asked if we understood the process that it would be a two year greencard if approved and then if with him or an American citizen you could apply for a 10 year green card or citizenship at 3 years and then we all laughed about it. He then asked if we had any more questions and I asked him about if he had anymore cases today and just general questions about how things have changed with covid.

Overall it was a great experience and the officer could have not been nicer and was making jokes the whole time and seemed to just enjoy his job and talking with us.

By the time we got home the case status had updated to "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed". 9 Days letter changed to card being produced.

Event Description

Embassy Review : Both my Fiancée and I arrived at the embassy 20 minutes before our 9:30am appointment time. The line was long to check in and we didn’t get to the front till about 9:25am. They checked our DS-160 and checked our passports writing my name on the forum. (I had filled out the forum on the UK embassy website to accompany her. That said I never heard back both times I did one month out and 1 ½ weeks out but I guess they had been told.) Then we were sent to the back of the security line which took till about 9:40am to get through. Security was super nice and was giving everyone high fives! After a short walk outside you are in the first floor of the main building and get to stand in another line. (I read you can cut the line but it was moving quick with about 20 people so we waited) At 9:45am they put our sticker on the DS-160 and send us to the elevator. Once on the correct floor you do exactly what others have said go left and then at the end of the hallway left again. Then they have fold down seats to sit in and think about all the fun paperwork you have completed to get to this moment! After sitting down for two minutes we are called up to the window. I go with her to help with the paperwork and they didn’t seem to care at all. The nice man took the DS-160 and her passport and then asked for her fingerprints and one passport picture. (they give it back at the end and they have a photo booth if you go right out of the elevators near the restrooms.) Then he lost our DS-160 and scared me half to death until he found it under our case file paperwork as he kept asking us for it!! Next he took her three police certificates, birth certificate, all translations and my I-134 and then asked immediately for an employment letter which I had. (I offered bank statements, pay stubs, tax returns but they didn’t need any of it) That is all the paperwork they asked for as we are both never married and have never changed names etc. Then we were told to sit back down and wait to be called up again. This took about 45 minutes and we watched 4 people called up before us given a 221g ☹!! They were all missing things you should know to bring such as a Marriage certificate, proof of income and so on! So make sure you read what to bring on the embassy’s website as well as read on here what other have brought. Finally it was our turn and I was allowed to join her and we both got sworn in. He said good morning and I said good morning but my Fiancée said morning very quiet and he didn’t hear it which upset him. He then said that she had to say something to make sure she spoke English so she loudly this time said good morning which calmed him down. He then had her verify it was her by checking her fingerprints again and having her state her name. Then he asked how we met which she answered saying we met at a pub in Piccadilly. Then he asked her if she had ever been to the USA and she answered saying she had been 3 times. Then he confused her by asking how long my first trip was when we met. She thought he meant the USA so she said a week so I clarified for him and explained we had met after I graduated college on a trip to London and we had met at a pub and then the next day I took her on our first date. Then I came back to visit many times (he was going through our evidence at this point and could see the 30+ tickets I had from visiting her in London) and he was smiling and seemed to really like our story. Next he asked if I knew any Spanish (she speaks mostly Spanish but does speak decent English) I laughed and said just a little bit but I will be learning soon. This scarred me but he didn’t seem to mind and just laughed and said good luck. Then he said that everything looked perfect here I am going to go ahead and approve this here is a card that explains the next step (how to check Visa status or something like that) and the original documents back have a great day and good luck. That interview took about two minutes maybe less and was very simple even with her living in three different countries over the years and us having different main languages. My advice is to make sure you have your paperwork organized in a binder that you have made sure has everything you might need and give them enough evidence to convince a stranger with high doubts that your relationship is real. We have been together two years so I gave them a copy of the business card of where we had our first date that I had kept and written the date on, Pictures of us in Washington Dc together (Washington monument behind us), Pictures of us with each other’s families with labels of who and where we were, Plane tickets from many of my visits (showed that I visited ever few months over the two year+ relationship), passport stamps, hotel receipts with both our names on it and pictures of us over the two years together. What I have told others is to make their job as easy as possible and you will do just fine!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
