COVID shut down embassy processing for 10 months

My husband was told at the medical appointment that he had to receive an appointment date for his exam from the embassy after his interview. There were no delays at the date of interview, my husband arrived 30 minutes before his scheduled time and easily went through the security checkpoints. His interview lasted approximately 15 minutes with about 12 questions. He was approved on spot and given a letter with instructions for being contacted about the medical in the near future. Once we receive a medical appointment date and he is cleared it is our understanding that he will receive the visa.

Medical appointment date set 21 days after ban lifted due to embassy coordination (ban lifted 3/31/21). Medical results took about 2 weeks to receive all components in a sealed envelope. Then embassy drop off of passport and newest police clearance. Took another week before visa was issued.

Upon arrival, customs officer fixed our visa type to IR1

Congratulations!!! Did they ask you to redo your police certificate? What other stuff did they ask for? Thank you!

Hi, just seeing this, sorry. Yes, you will need the most updated police clearance with the blue stamp. They will no longer take any other certificate. Bring everything you submitted to the NVC with you to your interview and a few pictures to prove your relationship. Good luck! Message me if you need more details. 🌼

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
