Comments : This was a long and arduous process by the time we made it to the embassy for the interview. At the embassy, the process was efficient and organized and took all of two hours.--I was proud to be an american. Interestingly, the interview was nearly done before i realized that I was in the midst of it. I had three binders of proof: financials, photos, divorce decree; I-134, etc.; but shockingly, they did not ask for any of it. After about six minutes of questions we were told we were approved and that was it. Visa ready in 10 days. Hallelujah!! They asked the following questions of me the american male: how did you meet your fiance (dominican cupid); how long have you known each other (30 months); how many times did I visit her (6); is her 23 month old son mine (no); did i know she was pregnant when I met her (yes); how many kids do I have (3); What do we do when together (bavaro beach); do i understand that I have just 90 days to marry (yes); Questions for my Dominican Fiance: Have you been married before (no); Have you ever been to the United States (no); Have you ever left the Dominican Republic before (no); Have you ever applied for a visa before (no); Have you met his kids or video chatted (no but she mentioned that they are adults). Then she was give a pamphlet on Domestic Violence. That's It

I am so Sorry to keep asking questions but I want to know if the website updated before you got your letter in the mail or was the snail mail letter the first notification? Our dates are pretty close together so you’ve been my go to.

Congratulations!! I just completed my ds-160 but am waiting to pay until my file gets to the nvc. It appears that the doiminican consulate is scheduling appointments within 35 days so this process will likely end in a couple of months for us. Good luck!!

Can you give me some details on the ds-160 form? My fiance is worried about it. Did you use a lawyer either in the US or DR? He wants to use a lawyer down there to fill it out, but I feel the I-129f form will be more difficult than the DS-160. Am I wrong? Oh and to add he has 2 girls so we will be filling out 3 if these.

Hey Jill, I think the I-129F is more involved than the DS-160. The I-129F application with all the support documents took a couple of weeks to do. The DS-160, with the benefit of all the work done for the I-129F took me about 30 minutes. The DS-160 then allows you to copy your answers for dependent children, so my soon to be step son's took about 10 minutes. In my humble opinion, a lawyer for the DS-160 is a waste of perfectly good pesos. The I-129F is a different story; if you have a lot of proof of your relationship with more than one visit in the last two years, I don't think you need an attorney. I think this site will help you get it done. I didn't hire an attorney and my NOA2 approval just took 115 days. Your call. I hope this helps. Cheers. Rob.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
