Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 19, 2019
Embassy Review : My fiancé arrived at 9:30 for his 10 am appointment on Aug 9. He took a bus into Victoria station and walked about 40 minutes to the embassy. There was a short line to get through security. He was annoyed they shoo’d him away as he was packing his stuff up after going through. At the next area, he joined the short line for US citizens despite being told by me to go up to the front desk, but it didn’t matter much, as the line took 5-10 mins to get through. After stickers were placed on his He was sent up the elevator. He was asked for his birth certificate, passport photo, passport, police certificate, and the affidavit of support form and documents. The DS160 was not asked for.

He then had to wait about 45 minutes for his turn at the interview booth. The questions asked were:
1. What does your fiancé do for a living?
2. Where does your fiancé live?
3. Does she have kids and how many?
4. Where did you meet? My fiancé said online and the guy told him to be more specific.

The man doing the interview was matter of fact but friendly.
After the questions, he asked my fiancé what happened when he was 18. We didn’t understand that “no live trace” on the police certificate would be an issue.
The interviewer told my fiancé to not worry
, as this situation is quite common, but he would have to give him a 221(g) form. He was instructed to call ACRO for information regarding the police cautions he was given decades ago, and to tell them to give the embassy permission to call ACRO to verify what happened. My fiancé did this immediately on leaving the embassy, and he thinks this helped to shorten the delay of the visa approval.

His visa was issued one week later. Good luck to everyone undertaking their interviews soon!

POE Review: Los Angeles
Event Description
Entry Date : 2019-08-27
Embassy Review : Quick, about 30 mins total process. My fiancé showed them the packet and was asked where I live. Because he said “Los Angeles” in addition to the suburb, he was given a slightly hard time about that, but it was cleared up. He was reminded to get married in 90 days and let through.
Harassment Level : Low

May I ask how much was the medical fee in HK?

Hi, our embassy was in London, so I’m not sure how much the fee in Hong Kong would be. Not sure if that was what you were asking?

Hi, I saw you're also in LA and filed your Adjustment of Status in September. Have you had your biometrics apt?

I’m so sorry I didn’t see this message until today. Not sure why I was not notified. But yes, I had my biometrics already am and scheduled for the interview soon. I hope your application is processing along also!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
