Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 24, 2019
Embassy Review : My interview was at 11:30am, there were many queues already when I got there around10:40am, I went to the check in counter outside, was told to
come back at 11:00am. (You need to get signed by check counter person on the DS-160 foam ) I was asked to queue by the wall until you were called. (You will need to get DS-160 foam, Appointment letter and passport out ready and hand these in at the check in counter :-)

I was called in before security check to wait on the side as I were for K1 interview. (The most of the people queuing were not for K1 interview) Then a lady told me once I go through the security check, there would beanother queue to the main counter, just don't queue and speak to the person at the front desk straight away and show the DS-160 foam. It was very awkward and uncomfortable as people on the queue were staring at me as I looked like I was skipping the queue! I spoke to the gentleman at the desk, however there seems IT issues at the time, the PC was not working, had to wait there for a while and he got my DS-160 foam and put Number label on and told me to take the lift to the 1st floor and turn left.

Once I've got there, I sat down and wait for my number to show on the display. Had first interview by providing the document they asked one by one. The gentleman only wanted Original copy not photo copy. He didn't want my previous marriage certificate. As I am a Japanese citizen with Japanese passport, I also had to provide my sealed Police certificate from Japan, the envelop stated that only the office is allowed to open the envelop, but he asked me to open and I handed over. I brought all my old passports (four of them) but he only wanted the latest one. Some questions such as if I previously married then how many times, when I am planning to move to U.S. Then scanned finger prints.

****Provided the following documents **********************************************************************************************************************
The latest passport
One photo
DS-160 foam (The latest one, I originally filed once but I had to updated again, the officer only wanted the latest one)
ACRO UK police certificate
Japanese police certificate
UK divorce decree
Original Birth Certificate (in Japanese)
Translated Birth Certificate (by Embassy of Japan in London)
Affidavit of support (with wet signature) and Tax return
**********************************************************************************************************************************************************

Then I was called in again in 40minutes time, scanned finger print again, swore oath, very nice friendly gentleman went through my documents one by one and
giving back all my original document each time. (+ medical CD) Questions are
*How did we meet ?
*When did I meet physically? where?
*How many times you have met?
*What does my fiancé do for living?
*When did my fiancé divorced?

I was not asked to show any proof of our relationship. (I had four A4 sheets of photos of us, all receipts and boarding passes etc with me)

And He said with big smile that 'think we will be approving your visa, Congratulation!'
He was very very nice to talk to, I felt relaxed as he was very helpful and reaction and response was friendly too.
I was so teary... and overwhelmed, thanking him a lot. He said I should be receiving a visa within two weeks, and explained
the what is happening the next. then he said 'Enjoy your new life in Hawaii' That was so sweet!

I was ever happy, video chat with my Fiancé straight away after I left the building.. awww bless him he was up 3am waiting for my call.
been sending me so many sweet cheering message through..
Now I am one more step closer to be able to spend the rest of my life with my amazing fiancé..who is my best friend, soul mate,
amazing lover, and partner....

Congrats on your approval :) As your case left NVC on 27/11 were you able to get a earlier medical/ interview date? Just ask to be prepared - currently waiting for NVC to receive my case

Thank you very much :-) As soon as I had case number from NVC via phone, I called up Medical to book. (the best timing is the first thing in the morning to call up, I was waiting line no.1 but still waited like 30mins) The earliest available was Saturday 8th December for me which was surprise.(didn't realise they do on Saturday which suited me) I planned to visit U.S over Christmas so I booked my interview later January but when I saw the appointment calendar in early December, some appointment date in December and many earlier date in January were available. (Loads!) I needed additional GP letter after medical exam, sent it on the following week, took few days for medical to confirm then, it was sent to the Embassy on 16th December or something like that. We weren't rush to get interview straight away, it was just personal preference :-) Not due to availability.

Hi there! My fiance and I are on a similar timeline and had a question about who is responsible for scheduling the interview with the embassy in London. We were notified last week that our application/package was sent to the embassy and to proceed with preparing for the interview. Will the Embassy sent a letter with an Interview date or is scheduling the interview up to us once we file the DS-160? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris

Once you file the DS-160, and you have the case number 'starting with LND' , you will need to book an interview by yourself via https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/users/sign_in. Create the account and pick the interview date and pay the fee and arrange the courier delivery (if you choose home delivery, you will need to pay extra too). You can all do these arrangement from this site :-) Its nice and simple, you can even change the date for the interview via your account too. All the best x

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
