Comments : US embassy in San Salvador responds to emails within 7 days at congensansal@state.gov (and once they even replied in a day! Also, the embassy phone line *actually Mexico* people may tell you to wait 90 days before contacting them regarding for example a non-received packet 3, then I emailed the embassy and they emailed it to me the next day! Wait 90 days my ass!)

Our I-130 was processed faster than the I-129F.

Calling the calling center (which is in Mexico) is very frustrating! One day they have open spots, then you call back later, and then there's none! Finally I called and they told me the interview date, but to look in the mail for packet 4 (again) that would say the date and time of the interview. Why couldn't they just tell me the time too? I already got the 1st packet 4!

Embassy Review : Emailing the embassy generally gets a response within 7 days.

Calling the San Salvador embassy (which actually calls somewhere in Mexico) costs $7 from the USA and they have no idea what they're talking about. I was told to call back numerous times, and when I did, they told me to call back again, etc. They also had told me to wait so many days before contacting them about the same issue, and I ended up emailing the embassy the same day and they forwarded me the packet by email the next day. Otherwise I would have waited another month before they would re-send me the packet by snail-mail (total of 90 days!). They contradict each other.

Also, my husband could not find any place to buy the Telefonica VISA phone cards in the Santa Ana province of El Salvador, making it literally impossible for him to call the embassy from there. I complained to the Mexican call center, and they said that perhaps at the embassy they sell the cards. So you have to go all the way to the embassy (3 hours) just to buy the card to call them!?!

Anyway, we have not gone to the interview yet, so I'll keep y'all updated on that.

Also, he got vaccinated with the Mumps vaccine at the embassy-approved doctor, and how he has mumps, two weeks later!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
