Consulate Review: El Salvador
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 14, 2019
Embassy Review : Overall, the interview was 5 minutes and to the point questions. But come prepared.

First they didn't have my fiancé on their "list" for the day. Thankfully he brought his appointment confirmation and they still saw him.

Also, they want divorce decrees that have physical seals (like a notary press that they can physically feel). They will not accept electronically certified copies of the divorce decree. So they put us in AP for that and I (the petitioner) had to get a certified copy from the district clerk with their pressed seal on it. This delayed us a week.

After we sent that in, they sent an email requiring the police solvency report. Of course my fiancé had it at the interview, they looked at it but then gave it back. Apparently they were supposed to keep it. So we had to send that in delaying us another week.

In the end, we're done and visa in hand so extremely happy!

Congratulations on completing this huge part of the K1 visa! I am thrilled to see information about the process in El Salvador which is very hard to find! I was hoping I could ask you some additional questions since I am the petitioner and my fiance is in El Salvador. We just started the process and you would be so much help to us!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
