Recieved notice to confirm interview date in December 2018, the interview was scheduled in Wichita despite change of address. Called USCIS who confirmed my current address was correct in their system. Unsure why my interview was scheduled in the wrong place. Interview rescheduled - files sent to SF in Feb 2019.

Event Description

Embassy Review : My interview was very straightforward, it was booked for 11.30am on Tuesday 21st November. I got to the embassy at about 11am and at 11:15 I went to the tent for US Visas. The lady asked for my interview letter and ticked my name off the list before sending me to one of the security rooms. In there it was much like airport security, they sent my file and anything in my pockets through a scanner and I had to walk through a metal detector. All was fine and they let me through. You have to walk around the outside of the building to the main entrance. Inside the lady on reception asked to see my interview letter and gave me a number (I920) and instructed me to go up to the waiting room.

I waited for approximately 25 minutes before my number was called. The lady at the window asked to see my interview letter, passport, photograph, birth certificate, police certificate, I-134 and fiancés employer letter. She also took my fingerprints (it took forever to get my right hand - it kept missing my little finger!). Lastly, she gave me my chest X-ray on a CD and I had to go back to wait for the interview.

It was approximately another 20 minutes before my interview. I was called to another window and had to swear an oath that I was telling the truth and all of my documents were true and correct. The guy was very friendly and it was like having a casual conversation rather than an interview. Most of the questions followed on and were connected to what I had answered from the previous question and it genuinely seemed like he was quite interested in what I had to say. My questions were:

1. How did you meet?
2. How soon after meeting online did you meet in person?
3. How soon after meeting in person did you consider yourselves to be dating?
4. Is he still in living in England or has he moved back to America?
5. Have you been to visit him since he moved back?
6. Has he met your family?
7. Are your family coming to the wedding?

Afterwards he told me it was approved and that I should go and call my fiancé! He returned my birth certificate to me and I was free to go. Big sigh of relief! I spent a total of about an hour at the embassy.
Rating : Very Good

Hi! What evidence did you submit to get your EAD expedited? I’d like to do that as well!

Hi, it was actually a complicated situation because I was living on a military base and was having issues with obtaining/maintaining my pass to get onto base housing, this was due to not having a SSN at the time because I had applied for one with my EAD. So I submitted a letter to explain the situation from myself and military officials as well as other evidence to support that I was living on base and my husband was active duty. Sorry my answer is probably not very helpful! I know a lot of people can get their EAD expedited if they get an job offer or can prove that they are suffering financially due to not being able to work.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
