We had our interview on the 17th. We arrived 30 minutes before our scheduled time. Our bags were searched before we went down a tented corridor, and then had to go through metal detectors. The security guards were nice and wished us good luck. We were told to go to the 9th floor. Once there, the person behind the counter gave us a plastic card and said to go to the 4th floor. We went to the room on the card, the man behind the counter took the plastic card and wrote some things on our interview notice, and told us to go to another room on the same floor. Once we got there, the man asked us where the plastic card was - we told him it was collected at the last room, and he then gave us a numbered ticket. (Make sure to get there early as it seems they move people around a bit.)
We arrived in this last room a few minutes before our appointment and ended up waiting about an hour and 45 minutes until we were called. Didn't have any reception on the phone but put it on silent anyway.
The officer came out and called my husbands first name. We followed her back to her cube, which was quite far back. Apparently they have just moved offices and there are boxes everywhere. She had us enter her cube and then stand and take an oath. After THAT she said to take out all our evidence and put it on her desk. I had a file that was about 6 inches thick so did check with her as to some of the things. She had us put our passports/BC/MC and copies on her desk as well as my husbands EAD/AP cards (current and expired). She asked for photos and also I gave her all the paperwork we had with our joint accounts and such. I can't find that so think she kept those with the photos and copies of other items. We got back our originals at the end, after she made a copy of the page in my husbands passport that showed the last entry he had into the US.
Whilst I was dealing with the paperwork, and she was trying to get logged on to her computer, she asked her coworker to do the biometrics for my husband. There was an issue with the smartcard she had. I'm familiar with that pain, and hoping it didn't affect the update or approval in the end (status hasn't changed yet on site). She asked us to answer questions only that are directed to each of us and not answer for the other. She asked a few questions like where did we meet, how long were we together before we got engaged, when was the last time we went on holiday, why did my husband travel back to his homeland without me, this was one place I got a little nervous bc I couldn't remember at first but then did. I never do well at interviews so wasn't too surprised my mind blanked on this one thing. She asked him all the Y/N questions that he'd answered on the previous forms. I think that was it. She then said it could take 120 days, but would probably be a couple of weeks.
We were only in the back for 15-20 minutes I think. She walked us over to a colleague and asked them to print out a "Notice of Interview Results" since she couldn't get on her computer. She did say Congratulations when we left. She was nice but professional and expedient. Now we are waiting for notification of status change and (hopefully) his gc!
Update: as of 23/10 status still says that "interview was scheduled" on USCIS site, and nothing about having interview, approval, etc. (' ')
