Event Description
Review Date : July 5, 2016
Embassy Review : The embassy was great. Only down side was for some reason my appointment time said 1230 yet when I got there I was down for 1200 on the person in the tents list so I ended up being 20th in line (I did check again when I got home and it definitely says 1230 appointment). It was a little funny on reflection because I had been really pleased with my self turning up 'early' to get a good place in line! I had to wait a while about 2 hours to show my documents, but then only about another 25-30 mins for interview.

I had been slightly anxious about us being a gay couple in that homophobia seems fairly common in some parts of the US, but when I arrived, there were to great big rainbow flags hanging from the building which really put my mind at rest. My experience in that respect was very positive, it is probably the most 'normal' our relationship has been treated in fact! So other LGBT people there is no need to worry on that front.

I was nervous between the wait from showing my documents to my interview, but then when my number came up for interview, I just all of a sudden felt so excited that this was the last hurdle for us in being together. I think my excitement came across at the interview as she was really friendly and enthusiastic about what I was telling her.

I was asked:
- Where does your Fiancee live? (note: don't just say America! haha)
- What does she do for work?
- What do I do at the moment?
- How did we meet?
- What are our plans when I arrive in the US?

Then she smiled and said she was approving my application. I gave a huge grin and thanked her so much. She said I was very welcome and wished us luck. And I left to call Leisa and tell her the good news.... although I think there is a block around the building as I couldn't get signal until I had walked a couple of streets!

It was actually a great day and as I mentioned the nerves are easily beaten by the excitement you feel going up to your interview
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
