Event Description

Embassy Review : I arrived at 11am for my 12 appointment. From the list, I saw that 4 other people had already arrived before me (so clearly you're good to come even before 11, maybe 10:30-45?) and that I was the only K1 booked in for that day. There were two people in front of me at the security line, waiting to go through.

I waited my turn to be called in, put my bag and my documents in a tray, to go through the scanner, and went through the detector. I beeped, was asked to face the window with my hands in the air and to show the soles of my feet, the guy said all good and off I followed the signs into the embassy.

Lady at reception greeted me, checked me off her list and stuck an i number on my DS-160. I was then told to take a seat toward the front of the room, and proceeded to wait until my number was called on the screen.

I had a book with me, as well as my phone for entertainment, but I didn't really feel like reading, I felt so distracted. I waited for what felt like an eternity, but was in reality just half an hour, before my number was called up to window 14, just around the corner from the waiting room.

That was around 11:35. The man at the window was a very nice American man, who offered me his congratulations on my engagement. He asked for my DS-160 print out, then the confirmation I'd paid and booked the courier, then asked for just one ID picture which he proceeded to scan in before handing it back to me. So... I guess now I have leftover ID pictures, which is good for AOS I guess! Then he took my prints, and I made a joke about weak pinkies because they *would not scan*.

Then he asked for every document in order, one by one. I had brought copies for each but he didn't care for any of them, they just scan the originals. Then handed over the i-134 as well as the latest W2 and that was that. I was told to go sit down again and wait for my number to be called up. Oh, and of course he kept my passport!

I sat back down and had to wait another hour-ish. They only seemed to have two windows processing I numbers - 13 and 14 - and only one doing the actual interview part, window 16. So even though I was only 5th in line (actually made like 3rd, because 901 and 904 were never called for the interview, so I think they might have been no-shows/disappeared before the process).

During the second wait I just read a couple of articles on my phone/tried to read a few pages of my book, but I was just so distracted staring at the screen every two seconds, willing it to go faster.

Then finally at 12:40 I was called up again, window 16. I went, raised my hands as requested and swore to only tell the truth. And then the interview began.

The lady asked me how I'd met my fiance, and when that was. What happened that day, and how it continued on from there. If we'd visited each other since then, if either of us had met each other's family, what I did for a living, what he did for a living, what I was planning to do once in the US and when I was thinking of flying out. And then she marked an A on my file and said I was approved and should expect to get my passport back within the next couple of weeks.

I feel totally elated and so glad that this part of the wait is over. I am now off on holiday for a week, then I have two weeks of work and then POE here I come. All in all, it was very smooth. Just a lot of waiting around.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
