Consulate Review: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 10, 2016
Embassy Review : My fiance's appointment was on August 22nd at 12:30 PM in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Her experience with Riyadh was a bit rough as it is more of a open ground and lots of dates trees so more hotter region. She went there early in the morning and waited in near by cafe not to far from embassy. She went to embassy 12:00 PM and stood outside for almost 45 minutes until guard let her in. So my suggestion is go on specific time and not to go there early.

Coming to the point, her interview was smooth with no issues. She was first to interview and stayed inside the embassy until 2:45 PM. Now, all went well in our case as we have given every single document with proof and legit papers. However, they raised a issue on my fiance's birth certificate as she was born there in Jeddah. The birth certificate she thought she had was actually not a birth certificate but a notification from hospital stating she was born in 'hospital name' in Jeddah. So interviewer raised his concern for it is notification and not birth certificate. So he asked her to send birth certificate or in case of not having one then get the new notification from hospital and get it attested from your country embassy. Otherwise, all simple questions.

1. Where's your fiancee today?
2. what city and state?
3. how long have you known him?
4. Have you been married before?
5. Was he married before?
6. Have you been to the US?
7. Where were you Born?
8. how old are you?
9. how old is your fiancee?
10. show me birth certificate. (Issue arrived after this)
11. Is your fiancee working?
12. Do you have affidavit support form?
13. Show me his last 2 years of tax return?

They told her to send the asked docs by SMSA with passport and fees 125 SAR. We sent all the asked docs third day after the interview and 9/8/16 we got a call from embassy that we are approved and will be receiving the visa in one week. She called me right after the phone call and I went to status check website and status was issued.

Our initial plan was to marry on 9/16/16 but due to visa issued later things kind a screwed up. Now we have planned for weeding at the end of September or first week of October. I hope you get the benefit from this review.

PLEASE STAY CALM IF PUT INTO ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. ALL WILL BE WELL.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
