Embassy Review : N400 Interview.

Arrived 15 mins early for 12:30pm appointment, Mercantile Ave address. Check in bag through metal detector. Polite staff, nice modern building. Directed to waiting room where no-one was there but me. (I asked about this and the officer said most interviews are scheduled for the morning and only a few people are due afternoon)
Officer called me to the interview room at 12:30pm. Very nice woman, smiling, helpful, welcoming.
Office is small, with officer behind a desk and a glass shield. She shows me to my chair. A tablet is on a stand on the interviewee side.
First she "checked me in" which meant me just showing my green card and drivers license, checks name, date of birth etc and she adds info to computer.
Next came civics (2008 version) test. Questions were
- Who is your state governor?
- Where is your state capitol?
- On what date do Americans celebrate Independence Day?
- What are two rights of Americans?
- What do we call the first 10 Amendments?
(I have forgotten the 6th question)

They were correct, so I passed. Next we do English language test. She shows me a sentence on the ipad, and I read it aloud. Then she reads aloud another sentence and I write it on the ipad. Passed.

Then she just goes through all the details of my N400 form. Where do I live, did I also live at these other addresses. Have I left the country, where to and for how long? Am I married? When is my husbands birthday? Quite honestly this feels like it's just to verify we put the right info in, and is not a kind of test. Felt perfectly comfortable.
Next is the "Did you ever sell arms/join a communist group" etc long list of questions (50 ish but made a bit more concise by the officer).
Next is the "Will you promise to support and defend the Constitution" etc shorter questions.

Then she takes my signature, digitally and on a bit of paper, to confirm basic details about my name, DOB etc, for the naturalization certificate (if it is approved).

Then she says everything looks fine, but she has to have her report verified by a superior, and I should expect a letter in 30-45 days. If two months pass to contact the office. She expects an oath ceremony will be scheduled. She explains that for a while when COIVD was high priority they were doing Oaths straight after the interview but now they are doing separate oath ceremonies in small groups. It might be at the Mercantile location, but perhaps it might be at the ABQ museum.

She shows me out and we are all done. Took about 30 minutes. Very pleasant experience.

Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
