Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 11, 2015
Embassy Review : I had a 9am appointment in London. I stayed in the Mornington Hotel, which is a 20 minute walk through Hyde Park from the Embassy (I would recommend this hotel). I joined the visa line at about 8:40. A line organizer was triaging people and directing people with later appointments to Starbucks down the street. When she got to me - as I was a K1, I got to skip the line and go straight to the security line. Once inside I waited about 20 minutes until my number was called, and went to my window. The lady there took my documents (she didn't want the copies I made, but I would never suggest not bringing them!), and when she asked if I was nervous, encouraged me by informing me that K1 visas are almost never denied, and you would have to do "really bad things" to have it denied. Back to my seat, and after about 15 more minutes I was called up the second time. The second lady asked me for my fiancée's name, how we met, whether we visited each other since I left the US, and what her siblings names are. Then she told me I was approved! In and out in less than an hour. Couldn't be happier--went home and booked my flight!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
