Event Description
Review Date : December 1, 2015
Embassy Review : I am writing this review a couple months after the event so I'll just mention what stood out to me. Other people have written very accurate detailed accounts of what happens which helped me a lot. I was extremely nervous for the medical and the interview but they both went fine.
Dr Hoosen's medical rooms are surprisingly small and pokey. The examination was a bit awkward in that he does a physical examination. I was uncomfortable with being examined by a male doctor but there wasn't another option and actually it was fine. They only gave me one vaccination. I was expecting a whole lot more but I had done a couple vaccinations last year and brought a letter from my doctor so I guess I didn't need more? We then drove to Sandton clinic to do the chest x-rays. Drove back and handed them in. The whole thing took a good few hours.

For the interview at the consulate I arrived an hour early and was 5th in line. I recommend wearing a hat and sunblock. I read so many reviews saying that phones etc aren't allowed inside so I just left my handbag in the car BUT that was super dumb because (I don't think straight when I'm nervous) I also left my wallet in the car. This I only realized after taking in my documents at the first window, the guy told me to go pay the fee at the other window.... I was filled with panic and dread. I asked the security guard if I could go out and fetch my wallet and thankfully he said yes. I then had to run back to my car parked in the Sandton City basement grab my wallet and run back, go through security again and pay. Jeez so much unnecessary stress. Then I just sat and waited for about 2 or 3 hours for my interview...which lasted all of 4 minutes. He just looked at my documents and asked a couple of easy questions like "What job do you do?" "what does your fiance do?" "when is the wedding?" It was such a relief when he told me it was approved.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
