Consulate Review: Auckland, New Zealand
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 7, 2017
Embassy Review : Arrived for appointment at the exact time. Showed officer on the floor for US Consulate our appointment letter. Gave in our cell phones and purse to be held while in the office.
Waited at the sitting room which was full! Go to window to give our appointment letter and were told what window to be expected to be called to next for our interview.
After about 15 minutes of waiting called up to the window by none other than B. She asked is it was alright to wait an additional 45 minutes and then come back for our interview. Was not expected at all but understood and listened to directions. Spent 45 minutes walking around Auckland with our 1 year old in tow. Got something to eat at the cafe under the consulate.
Once 45 minutes passed, came back to office to repeat previous actions. The office was now almost completely empty save for a USC and her baby waiting at another window.
B called us up and asked for proof of funds. I provided my co-signer/co-petitioner's US paytubs from the passed 3 months. B mentioned how I must have been ready to go home since I had everything in a folder they could possibly ask for at a whim! Very nice lady and really cut the air of nervousness! Our 1 year old at this point wiggled his way out of my arms and was now crawling under all the empty seats. Husband scrambles to get him but in a narrow space a little tricky. Sat down and waited for Husband's interview.
After we wrestled baby to a nap my husband was then called to another window while I held our little one.
Husband was only asked a few simple questions, when our marriage was, how old our son was and his birthday, took my husbands fingerprints and then I was asked to come up.
He chatted about our son and we were done! That was it! Really friendly people!
Kind of unlucky that we had to wait 45 minutes more for our process but at the same time, since no one else was there it was much more relaxing and stuffy! Shout out to the consulate, they are really nice people! javascript:emoticon('') This was actually my second visit to the consulate, the first was for our son's CRBA. Same great people and everything went well.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
