Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 23, 2014
Embassy Review : we stayed at the crowned plaza hotel and left around 5:45, guided by google maps (neither of us knew the city ) we were able to get to the embassy around 6:30
once there we parked like 2 blocks from the embassy( we paid 5 $ for that ) then you get approach by the buscones as ussual asing you to stample your papers and such, we didnt listen to them, you can see like 3 lines and sighs at the building entrance columns ( tourist, residents) we took the residents one and women are separated from men in another line, do yourself a favor and dont bring anything that you wont need for the interview !!!

once inside the security area you have to empty your pockets of everything and place them in a automatic belt for xray scan, you are asked to go through metal detectors too, after that 2 emplyees give you your number and tell you which area you need to go based on your visa type, only inmigrant visas go inside the building while the rest have an outside area

once inside you can see the tvs that shows the # being call so pay attention to the tvs !! sometimes they call by the speakers too but mostly people just pay attention to the # on the tv ...

now the fun part !
by 8 we were called to one window where a nice latin man asked us for our papers : birth certificates, police report, afidavid, 2x2 pics addressee ect which any of you can respond unless the question is specific for you, then he asked us to pay for the second part of the visa 110 $ the we head back to him, hand him the receipt then he told us to go to window 1 for the fingerprints and after that we sat and wait ..
we noticed who had numbers lowers than us so we watched when they were called so we be ready because the # are not that ramdom once they start calling people...

by 10:00 am we were call to window 21 where a big young american male greet us and we notice he had all our paperwork he swear us and proceeded with the interview

to us
so you want to get married : we said yes lauging lol

to me
how we met which
whats her mother name
have i met her parents
have i ever been to usa
what my fiancee does for a living

to my fiancee

how many times she has been to dr
where do you plan to get married

to me
if my daughter will be traveling with me
then handed me the DS-156k to write my fiancee name which i misspell her first name " crap crap " but i kept writing the rest of it right then mine

then he said ok you nailed it YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED !!!

we hug and kissed and thanked him very much !!!!
we were in shock !! we had like 10 folders of evidence with us and he didnt even look at it !!! mind you that we sent plenty of evidence with our original petition application !

then we left with a huge smile, went to domex which is outside where you make the line to get in, paid and went to celebrate !!

PD :
if you are going to bring children with you to the interview please look after them or at least be able to control them !! i saw children bothering people at windows while they were having their interview !! W T F .....
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
