Embassy Review : |
Arrived at 9:20, walked to the embassy from oxford circus tube station aprox 15 mins.
If you are not familiar with London (im not) use the app 'citymapper' it will tell you what buses, tubes and trains to get on and when to get off, pretty cool.
Qued/lined up outside for about 40mins - 1 hour, (i met some nice people in the que and we had abit of a chin wag and a giggle so it went pretty quick).
By the end of the first que you have to show your passport, DS-160 and interview confirmation letter then you get sent to the second que with a bag to put in all metal items for security.
Phones are allowed! however signs inside the building tell you to switch them off. NO big bags are allowed, i had a smallish shoulder bag and it was fine.
Once inside you talk to reception and get given your number, for K visas its a I9XX number (i assume). Sit down and wait.
My number popped up and got sent to the first window, had to hand over:
my passport,
birth cert + copy,
police cert + copy,
2 photos (i took 4 because i my upload to the DS-160 failed but didn't need the spares)
I-134 + supporting evidence + NO copy
DS-160
i got given my x-rays back and had a little chat about when i was planning to fly. Once id passed all the paper work over i got told to sit back down while he sorted out my things.
About 30 mins passed and my number was called again.
When + where did i meet my fiance?
When did we decide to get married?
Then i guess we went off on a tangent only really relevant to my case, i had a very slight issue traveling from Canada to the US on foot in 2013 which he asked me about. We talked about this for 2 mins or so and i was accepted.
I left the embassy at 11:30 so took 2 hours in total.
Oh, and there are toilets on the inside of the embassy to use.
