Consulate Review: Auckland, New Zealand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 12, 2014
Embassy Review : My visit to the Auckland consulate started with taking the elevator on the Citi building on Customs street to the 3rd floor. I showed my interview and appointment letter to the security guard at the door. He asked if I had a cell phone which I did so I put this in a tray and was given a number card to claim it back when the interview was done. The security guard then scanned my evidence of a relationship I had on me with the x ray machine then directed me through the door to window number 5. Window number 5 was busy so I sat down in the waiting area. When window 5 was free I rung the bell and waited for assistance, a very nice older lady came and welcomed me and asked for my appointment letter and passport. She then explained the K1 process to me and gave me my birth certificate, DS3025 immunisation form and a CD containing my X ray on. She looked through the I134 and other evidence I had provided and said that everything looks good. She directed me to the cashiers window where I payed in cash the $288 fee for the K1 visa. I then waited for my name to be called. When my name was called after about 15 mins of waiting the CO asked me to take an oath. He then took my finger prints and commented on how perfect my finger prints were which is a rare occurrence apparently. 😜 he then asked me how we met, what I planned on doing for a job when I was in the US and have I been to the US before. He then said everything looks fine, they need to verify a few more things and that the visa will be issued in the next 3 business days. Overall it was a very smooth process and the staff were very happy and made the process a breeze. They didn't check my evidence of an on going relationship that I had painstakingly prepared either but it was still good to have it there just in case! Now the wait begins for my passport to be returned to me!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Dallas
Event Description
Entry Date : 2014-07-24
Embassy Review : Very easy going through Dallas! I stood in the non immigrant line then when served by the customs officer he stamped my passport and took me to a waiting area at the end of the customs hall. I waited here maybe 15 mins before my passport was returned to me and I was able to enter the USA. No questions asked whatsoever...just told to have a nice day! Staff were very friendly! I had to catch a connecting flight but due to waiting in line for awhile and not being able to re check my bags they did it all for me which was super helpful!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
