Embassy Review : My husband's interview time was at 7:30am. He arrived at the embassy at 6:45am and he didn't finish until 10:30am. But the long wait was worth it, his visa was approved.

The officer interviewing my husband was very nice and considerate. In a very caring tone the first thing he said to my husband was to sit down and relax, he was just going to ask him a few questions. The interview only lasted about 15 minutes.

Things to note... there is not a DHL branch within the Barbados embassy anymore, you have to drive across town to reach it. Also, there is no real area for people to sit while waiting for their family/friends to finish interviewing. There are two wooden benches that you can sit on outside of the embassy's entrance, next to the Taxi stand, but they are uncovered, meaning that if it rains you have to run for shelter under the taxi stand carport.

If you're planning to accompany your spouse to the interview and wait on him/her, make sure to bring an umbrella just in case it rains, and a book or magazine or game to keep yourself busy during the long wait!

Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Atlanta
Event Description
Entry Date : 2013-11-10
Embassy Review : Be prepared to WALK, it's about 10 minute walk from getting off the airplane to arriving at Immigration/Customs, and then be prepared to sit and WAIT. It took us about an hour to get pass the initial POE. The two Officers were nice enough, it just seemed like they purposely made you wait a really long time for no reason. They were talking amongst themselves and laughing at personal jokes when there were quite a few of us waiting to be processed. They initially took our passports and my husband's sealed Visa paperwork. We were told to sit and after maybe 10 minutes they called my husband back up for fingerprints. Then they told my husband to go back and sit. About 20 minutes later they called us back up and I verified our address and signed some paperwork. Then they told us to sit again. After another 20 minutes they finally finished processing us and gave us the information on when my husband's conditional green card ended and where to send in the paperwork for the permanent green card. After we were finished with the POE, we went to the baggage claim section to retrieve our luggage. We then had to go and get our bags scanned because we had "a live animal" with us, our 7 lb. chihuahua. Thankfully they didn't have to scan all of our bags, they just verified that my dog had the required vaccinations and they let us through. It was a long and exhausting experience, but so worth because my husband is finally in the States with me.
Harassment Level : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
