Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : I flew into London on the 18th for my fiancé's Visa Appointment at the US London Embassy on the 19th. We reviewed all the paperwork and documents we had collected over the months to be sure we had everything and were familiar. We stayed in a hotel about a 20 min walk from the embassy. When we arrived around 8:00 for our 8:30 appointment time, there was a small line in which we joined. We were asked to have the beneficiary's DS160 and passport out. Apparently I had not added myself to the list but spoke with the woman checking us in and explained that I am the petitioner and have travelled from the US to attend. She was very nice and added my name onto the list and made a quick phone call informing someone that I was coming in after checking my passport. We went through the airport-like security line and into the embassy. There were already many people seated so we waited for our number to be called. The first window we went to, the gentleman was very friendly and took several documents from us. We sat down and waited again. This time we had an American man. He asked a lot of questions to my fiancé about how we met, our relationship, and what I do for work. He wanted a story, details, and then he asked if my fiancé had ever been deported or removed. He hadn't, but he said he had withdrawn his application for admission last December. The man could see this on his computer already and asked quite a few questions about it. I had the documents from that incident and offered them to him. He took them, read through them, and said he would be right back. That's when we got nervous. He came back and saw the look of horror on our faces and explained that he wanted to make sure that the previous denial of entry wouldn't affect anything and that we could relax because he was going to approve the visa! I was so happy and relieved that I started crying and hugged my fiancé. After this whole long, stressful process, it was finally over! My fiancé and I are spending the next week together for Christmas, and I have to say, last night was the first night in about a year that I was able to finally sleep peacefully. My advice to all of you going through this difficult process is, don't lose hope, do your research, and be overly prepared for the embassy appointment. It's well worth it to finally hear those words of an approval!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
