Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: F-2A Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 18, 2015
Embassy Review : on March 17, got to the embassy at 6:50, for a 6:45 IV. the 6:45 line was already entering the building so we went in right away after presenting our IV letter and the VAC appointment confirmation.

Went through security screening (a little less hard than airports)
got #185, entered the room and sat to wait for our number to be call (this time i notice it was in order..)

Lady told us to give her my passport, my IV letter, DS-260 confirmation page, my police certificate and my medical exam results envelope (sealed)
She then went to the back and grab my folder with all the documents that we sent to NVC, and gave me back a few of those...and don´t know why she asked us a couple of times if we have any kids (we don´t)

then back to waiting for our IV (this time i notice # weren´t called in order... randomly instead) which we were surprised of how soon our # appeared at the screen to go to window 18

A very nice american middle age man greeted us, asked for my name, my husband´s name and asked to put my right hand´s fingers in the fingerprint detector
he asked us if we speak english, we answered yes.. so he Sworn us in spanish and then asked us a few questions in english..
How, When did we meet? How long did we dated? when did we got married? when did my husband went back to live to the US? (we spent 3 years in a long distance relationship) how did we got engaged? what do i do for work, and what does my husband do for work?.. and finally if we have any kids together or separately... and then he started writing something in the computer and in the middle turns and says oh, the visa is approved...

it was so fast, i couldn´t believe it that after preparing all those documents and photos, and everything that i gather..and all the thinking and anxiousness... it was over so fast..

the new DR embassy is huge, and very well organized... really glad to go there instead of the old one...

on march 18, the CEAC status changed to AP in the morning...and by the afternoon it was ISSUED... and by friday the 20th I received an email that my passport was ready for pick up...

Documents in hand, jst waiting for ELIS page to pay the Immigrant Visa fee...and get a plane ticket...

Embassy Review : it took me a long time to get trough the line cause it was full of people,
when i got to the immigration officer it took him forever to review my passport and documents (he wasn't in a work mood),... at least he wasn't rude or anything...

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
