Event Description

Embassy Review : I was not there, so this is second hand. My husband got his interview notice about 5 weeks before his interview. I made a call to the American embassy in Suva a few weeks after receiving the Interview Notice letter to ask them if they had his police report, which we submitted about 1-2 months earlier. They said they had it, but we needed to scan the receipt for the report and email it to the Visa Center in the US. I did this and the NVC said that they already sent the file to Fiji and they have nothing else to do with it.

My husband arrived at 8am on sept 5th, 2013 for his interview. There were many people there and he waited a couple of hours. He saw at least two people. One of them told him that he did not have a sponser, even though he has myself AND and a joint sponsor. Not sure why they said that. He then had his interview and they asked him… why does he love his wife, how did we meet, how long have we been together, when did your wife leave the country, where does she live. This is all I got from my husband. Then they told him to come back the next day at noon to pick up his visa. He arrived at noon and picked up his visa along with his visa packet and a letter that said he had to pay $165 immigration fee and it had is alien number on it. I then paid the fee on-line and booked his flight for 5 days later. Seems that everything went fairly well, at least up to this point. He just got his visa TODAY so he has not yet entered the country. But so stoked to have made it this far!! All in all we applied for the visa on January 9th and now have it on September 6th.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
