Embassy Review : Hello my dear VJ family. I am pleased to announce that our visa was approved. We got to the consulate at 6:20 am, the appointment was for 6:45, and there was already a big line. One of the consulate employees was looking at the appointment letters and giving out numbers (two paper tickets) and stapling them to the letter. Ours was number 60. Then right before going in another employee took the letter with one of the numbers and she gave us only a little piece of paper with our number. We got in around 7:10 after going through security. By the way, make sure to keep an eye on your stuff going through security because it is a mess, for a few minutes we lost our folder FULL with our documents.

Inside it is a big room with benches facing the windows, which resemble bank teller windows with huge bullet proof glass. The cafeteria is in the same room so if you have to buy something to eat you don\'t have to worry about missing your turn. We ate a heavy breakfast so we were not hungry.

My fiance was very nervous, we didn\'t get much sleep but I was calm, cool and collected

They called our number around 8 to window 12, where they took all the forms: birth certificates, divorce certificates, bank receipts and one photo(except for DS230 part 2, police certificate or military certificate they never asked for these). We were sent to pay the $80 at another window and to bring the receipt back. Then they asked us to sit down again.

A 8:30 they called us again (by my fiance\'s name) and asked us for another photo and for the finger prints. The lady that helped us asked us to sit down again and that the next time we\'ll be called will be for the interview.

At around 9:30 they called our number to window 25. It was a young white male, very friendly. He asked our names, to raise our hands and sworn us in. He highlighted the fields at the bottom of DS-156K and said \"fill in your fiancee\'s name and sign\" in the meanwhile he asked me how and when me met. He asked me how many times I\'ve been to the DR and asked if he could see my passport. He barely looked at it and gave it back to me. He asked if we had children in common, we said no, he asked if we have children at all. My fiance responded yes, and he asked him what his daughter\'s name is. Then he asked me if I had children and their ages.

He asked if we had pictures, we said yes, and he asked if he could see them. My fiance tried to ruin the album pushing it through the little slot so the officer said \"just show them to me\". My fiance started flipping the pages slowly but the officer asked him to do it faster.

Then he asked my fiance if he\'s been to the US before and for how long. While my fiance was answering this question he was already handing him a sheet of paper with the Immigrant\'s Rights. He asked him to read it whenever he gets a chance. He asked us if we had the medical results, but we didn\'t have them because the Clinic was going to send them directly to the Consulate since the exams were done 3 weeks prior to the interview. Any how, the officer said that since they didn\'t have the medical results they can\'t complete the file and they can\'t issue the visa. At that moment I was so upset and confused. But then the officer said, you can go to Domex right now anyway and pay. Just make sure to bring the medical results at 7:30 am any day so we can process the visa. We were so puzzled that he saw our faces and he said your visa is approved, we just need the medical back. We hugged and kissed and we went to pay Domex.
We went to the clinic to find out what the problem was, apparently the clinic did send it to the consulate but the consulate didn\'t receive it properly. Gladly they didn\'t not loose them and now the file is complete. We are now waiting for the passport to be ready.

For the most part while we were answering the questions the officer was filling out forms. He didn\'t not ask me any questions about my fiance and he didn\'t ask my fiance any questions about me. We were done with the interview in no more than 2 minutes. We were out before 10 am.

Good luck to the rest of you. Let me know if you have any questions.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
