Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : This is my fiance's review of his interview this morning at the London Embassy:

My interview appointment time was 9:00 AM, I arrived at the Embassy around 7:35 and joined the queue. I was in the Embassy within 30 minutes. The security guard in line was very friendly and asked me about my scarf (was wearing a Crystal Palace FC scarf) so we talked football for 5 or 10 minutes. Once inside I got my ticket number I-912 and took a seat.

I sat waiting around 1 hour 45 minutes before being called up to Window 1. I stood there for 15 minutes before an Asian woman turned up. She was not friendly, but not mean. I just felt rushed by her. She seemed impatient. She took my Birth Certificate and copy, Police Certificate and copy, Affidavit of Support and Employer Letter and passport photos. She then gave me my disc with my x-ray on it. She was very difficult to understand.

She told me to sit back down and wait for my number to be called for the interview. I sat there maybe 30 minutes before being called to Window 15. I was immediately greeted by a bearded American man saying "Hi Daryl, How are you today?" with a smile. I instantly felt at ease. He was personable, polite, and friendly. He took my finger prints, had me write my fiancee's full name on a form and sign it. He then asked me these questions (which sounded more like he was getting to know me):
1. How did you meet your fiancee?
2. What does she do for a living? How much does she earn?
3. When did things become serious? (He casually also asked why we decided to get married now even though we have been together 5 years, and I said my fiancee wanted to finish her education, which he seemed very impressed by)
4. Why the US and not the UK?

After each question he smiled at me during my answers (At this point I kind of felt like I had it in the bag). I told him about our wedding plans and honeymoon to Disney World and he loved it. Then he said "Daryl, I'm pleased to tell you that you have been approved", and I instantly grinned and shot my hands up in the air!

He then asked if I had any questions for him, and I asked him about the Port of Entry procedure. He fully explained it all to me. The entire time I was with him I felt like he was just casually getting to know me. It was wonderful. I wished him a Happy Thanksgiving and went on my way. I left the Embassy around 11am and got a coffee and bacon roll.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
